This **is** a full board work session. Trustees are present and speaking. It is **not** a vote. President Boswell: Texas law limits trustee questions in public comment to clarification; the board has allotted the night to *discuss* the plan in light of **6,500+** comments (`00:02:45`–`00:03:17`). **RESULT:** No motion on consolidations. Refinements go out **October 31** (Halloween, earlier in the day) (`00:30:21`). Campus meetings continue. The named vote remains **November 20**.

Mackenzie Coronado, Bryker Woods: quintessential neighborhood school; “Our trustee has said that she does not agree with it being on the closure list”; IB does not transfer (`00:04:05`).
Ben Hooton: plan ignores attrition; $13k+ per student (`00:07:17`).
Maddie Kaitton: two-thirds of Bryker Woods families would consider leaving (`00:08:27`). Then the finance line the campus nights did not say:

- **Pre-K** may continue at current campus.

Seven-area workshop (trustees on the mic)
This is the first night in this chapter set where **trustees interrogate staff in public**. Campus nights were Segura plus communications/planning. Here Hunter, Foster, Singh, Kaufman, Gonzalez, Whitley Chu, Quintana talk maps, Montessori, Winn, Sunset Valley, dual language, Mueller/Marshall/Northeast, magnets, single-gender, delay.
Samples, not a full map of four hours:
- Hunter: access to data (`00:40:28`); later, she will **not** ask Maplewood off the list; Maplewood/Campbell want **more time**, “they’re not in any rush”; Barrington “unheard… fearful about special education” (`04:14:47`).
- Foster: Mueller split elementary → Campbell/Blanton, middle split, high school together at Northeast; he wanted Mueller whole through Marshall to Northeast (`02:22:53`–`02:26:25`). Staff: putting all of Mueller at Marshall would **split Maplewood** (`02:23:37`). Segura: keep Maplewood together vs. feeder purity; revisit boundaries every three or four years (`02:27:07`).
- Singh: Montessori reset; Sunset Valley (`03:11:47`); long turn at `02:09:05`.
- Whitley Chu: reading the list; magnets/single-gender not in this project (`02:21:00`); Ridgetop/Bryker Woods option (`04:09:12`).
- Gonzalez: emergent bilingual students who could benefit (`03:14:41`).
- Delay fight (`04:26:24`–`04:33:06`): a trustee asks for a **one-year delay** alternative with budget and TAP coverage; another: voting whether to consolidate is governance, a full pause is a different ask. Segura: “I would really caution the board about doing a fullyear delay. I in fact, I would probably be adamant that we don’t.” He heard Hunter as: **take the vote, delay Maplewood/Campbell implementation one year**. TAP timelines are “tied to pretty specific” dates. A “modified plan given the risk” is a different conversation than a full pause.
Planning time appears as **approval-process calendar** for a new program (`02:58:11`), not teacher planning periods. Librarians are not the identity speech of Sunset Valley/Palm; they barely register.
Recapture in this file is **public comment** (`00:09:15`), not a staff slide and not a motion. Inflation and allotment are not the work-session vocabulary. Boswell’s 72 students / $1 million is repeated by callers, not unpacked as Chapter 49.
Board vs. staff
Opposite of the campus nights: the elected board is on the dais, talking. Staff still hold the maps, the TAP calendar, and the “I would be adamant” against a full-year delay. Hunter’s campus presence at Maplewood that morning (`ch14`) becomes, at night, a request for *time*, not a motion. **No vote.**
