The district had said librarians would be spared, then reversed, then reversed again under testimony. That sequence is in the papers. Librarians learned on the last day of school that some jobs would be split across two campuses. Several of the named schools were already on the closure-risk map. A person in that role had reason to fear both a shared schedule and a closed building. It is also evidence of how thin the remaining general fund is: a line smaller than one percent of the deficit required a late amendment and a raid on reserves. When that fund is thin, staff buy school materials and teaching aids themselves. Last year Wooldridge still went F to B. That was ganas, not the formula. Recapture is why the public dollar is that thin: AISD’s recapture page, FY2024–25, put 46.3 cents of each general-fund dollar as the payment to the state. See the recapture bill.

Internal campus lists reported by the Statesman for the half-time plan included Allison, Barton Hills, Boone, Bryker Woods, Campbell, Cook, Cunningham, Harris, Joslin, Langford, Lee, Mathews, McBee, Ortega, Palm, Pillow, Reilly, St. Elmo, Williams, Zavala, plus Sadler Means, Gus Garcia YMLA, and Uphaus. The June 18 amendment protected a full-time librarian on every campus. It did not change enrollment, recapture, or the allotment.
